The existing deck no longer fit the family’s lifestyle, offering insufficient space, zero built-in seating, and an awkward layout that isolated the nearby hot tub. The homeowners needed a functional, seamless outdoor upgrade that improved flow, provided built-in seating, and maintained easy access to the hot tub’s mechanical components.
The Weekend Carpenter removed the old deck, reinforced the underlying frame for maximum structural integrity, and built a custom extension featuring integrated corner bench seating and a built-in flower box. To ensure effortless maintenance, Richard designed a clever hinged deck section over the hot tub mechanicals that easily lifts out of the way, finishing the entire space with fresh, low-maintenance decking and full perimeter privacy skirting.
